Amy Beavers Appointed as Vice President of the Maritime Education Standards Council

The Maritime Education Requirements Council is comprised of 30 member schools and organizations in the United States, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, who are committed to supplying the highest good quality of maritime education to recreational and specialist mariners. In joining, MESC college members, have the opportunity to work in the sustaining and improving the high quality of maritime education.

Amy began her professional maritime profession in 1986, after a lifetime of private involvement in the business via a family of mariners. Amy holds a limited tonnage USCG Masters License. For the last 26 years, she has worked for MPT and has been involved in all aspects of maritime education from teaching, profession counseling, and administration to system improvement and regulatory liaison with the Coast Guard Merchant Marine Personnel Advisory Committee (MERPAC) and other Maritime Administrations and governmental agencies. Soon after fifteen years of attending MERPAC as a member of the public in the operating groups, Amy was appointed this year to serve on the committee representing maritime educators with MERPAC. In addition to her speaking engagements, she has been published in many articles which includes the monthly Ask Amy crew licensing &amp certification column in the Dockwalk magazine as well as co-author of the Huge Boat Bible.
