Tiffany Hairston Awarded Fellowship from NBCC and Affiliates

The NBCC Foundation, an affiliate of the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), recently chosen Tiffany R. Hairston of Toledo, Ohio, for the National Board for Certified Counselors Minority Fellowship Plan (NBCC MFP). As an NBCC MFP Fellow, Ms. Hairston will obtain funding and coaching to support her education and facilitate her service to underserved minority populations.

The NBCC MFP is made possible by a grant awarded to NBCC by the Substance Abuse and Mental Wellness Services Administration (SAMHSA) in August 2012. The Foundation is contracted by NBCC to administer the NBCC MFP, as effectively as instruction and collaboration activities that will be open to all National Certified Counselors. The purpose of the plan is to strengthen the infrastructure that engages diverse people in counseling and increases the quantity of expert counselors providing powerful, culturally competent solutions to underserved populations.

The NBCC MFP has distributed $ 20,000 education awards to Ms. Hairston and the 23 other doctoral-level counseling students chosen to acquire the fellowship award. Tiffany Hairston is a each a student and a graduate of the University of Toledo, exactly where she is pursuing a doctoral degree in counselor education and supervision. Ms. Hairston has worked as an executive secretary, accounting technician, lead counselor/case manager, director of mentoring and juvenile services, and graduate assistant. As an NBCC MFP Fellow, she plans to obtain advanced education on troubles connected to minorities, networking and sophisticated investigation opportunities.
