Greensboro, NC (PRWEB) July 03, 2013

The NBCC Foundation, an affiliate of the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), not too long ago chosen Tanya L. Willson of Surfside, Florida, for the National Board for Certified Counselors Minority Fellowship Plan (NBCC MFP). As an NBCC MFP Fellow, Ms. Willson will obtain funding and training to support her education and facilitate her service to underserved minority populations.

The NBCC MFP is made attainable by a grant awarded to NBCC by the Substance Abuse and Mental Wellness Solutions Administration (SAMHSA) in August 2012. The Foundation is contracted by NBCC to administer the NBCC MFP, as properly as education and collaboration activities that will be open to all National Certified Counselors. The objective of the plan is to strengthen the infrastructure that engages diverse people in counseling and increases the number of professional counselors offering powerful, culturally competent solutions to underserved populations.

The NBCC MFP has distributed $ 20,000 education awards to Ms. Willson and the 23 other doctoral-level counseling students selected to receive the fellowship award. Tanya Willson is a graduate of the University of Utah and Liberty University, and is enrolled in Barry Universitys counselor supervision and education system. Ms. Willson has expertise in a university counseling center and in private practice, and at the moment performs in hospital inpatient and outpatient applications.
