Fulani Doughty Awarded Fellowship from NBCC and Affiliates

The NBCC Foundation, an affiliate of the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), not too long ago chosen Fulani A. Doughty of Washington, Georgia, for the National Board for Certified Counselors Minority Fellowship System (NBCC MFP). As an NBCC MFP Fellow, Mr. Doughty will receive funding and coaching to support his education and facilitate his service to underserved minority populations.

The NBCC MFP is produced feasible by a grant awarded to NBCC by the Substance Abuse and Mental Well being Solutions Administration (SAMHSA) in August 2012. The Foundation is contracted by NBCC to administer the NBCC MFP, as nicely as training and collaboration activities that will be open to all National Certified Counselors. The purpose of the system is to strengthen the infrastructure that engages diverse people in counseling and increases the quantity of expert counselors supplying effective, culturally competent services to underserved populations.

The NBCC MFP has distributed $ 20,000 education awards to Mr. Doughty and the 23 other doctoral-level counseling students selected to receive the fellowship award. Fulani Doughty is a graduate of the University of Georgia and is enrolled in the Argosy University Sarasotas counselor education and supervision system. His skilled experience consists of working as a social solutions technician, alternative school lead teacher, college counselor, private practitioner and rehabilitation counselor. His aim as an NBCC MFP Fellow is to serve his community as an successful alter agent to enrich the lives of other individuals. Soon after graduation, he plans to continue his function as an educator, consultant and counselor, and serve as a clinical evaluator/treatment provider for the DUI Intervention Program in Georgia.
